Fort Cochin is a great place to spend your evenings. Well, if you aren’t already acquainted with the town, here’s what all you can do there in the evening.The Fort Cochin Beach is a rocky one, with pathways and stone cut walkways on the beach side. Take a walk and enjoy the sea breeze. You can see small boats and trawlers bringing in their catch of fish to the shore. If that isn’t enough, head to the many Chinese fishing nets that line the beach. the shallow waters are ideal to catch fish using these cantilevered nets. You can see how the fishermen operate them using large stones and bamboo poles as balances.

Fort Cochin is a culturally-rich place. You can also taste authentic Kerala seafood, Jewish and Chinese cuisine in the hotels and restaurants here. Some of them allow you to buy the fish fresh off the boat and they’ll cook it for you, according to your taste.

Art and culture plays an important role in the life of the people of Fort Cochin. There are many well-developed art cafes and galleries here. Take a peak at and art, photography or installation exhibition. Theatre and music, too, have their share of the pie. Do check out Indian and western music performances in the town.

If martial art is your thing, then be sure to book yourself a seat at the local martial art theatre – feast your eyes on Kalaripayattu performances. Kathakali, an art form from Kerala, too, is performed in the late evenings.

Fort Cochin has many churches that you can visit. St Francis Church and Santa Cruz Basilica are the two main ones. The Pardesi Synagogue at Mattancherry attracts many visitors.

You can end the night again at the beach, on a walk, or head to a nice restaurant for dinner.
